Prince Albert (Colin Firth), known as Bertie, only wants to get through a sentence without his voice seizing up. His stammer makes every public address a dread, and when his brother abdicates, he is handed a throne that demands constant speaking. His wife (Helena Bonham Carter) finds him an unorthodox Australian therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush). Tom Hooper frames the two men in tight, close rooms, and the camera stays near their faces.
