The Kiss

“It wasn’t the first kiss... neither the first time”

On a Rio street, a pedestrian lies dying after a bus hits him, and the clerk Arandir (Ney Latorraca) runs over and kisses him out of plain sympathy. A newspaper photographer saw it, and he and a brutal police chief accuse Arandir of being homosexual. Bruno Barreto watches the story spread from the street into Arandir's home, where his father-in-law Aprígio (Tarcísio Meira) and his wife Selminha (Christiane Torloni) must decide what they believe.
