The Lady in the Van
“A mostly true story”
Miss Shepherd (Maggie Smith) is a woman of uncertain origins who parks her van on a London street and stays. When the writer Alan Bennett (Alex Jennings) offers his driveway as a temporary spot, she settles in for fifteen years. Nicholas Hytner keeps the camera close to the van and the house, so the two of them seem to share one small, cluttered patch of ground.
