The Land

In a village in 1933, the mayor tells the peasants that their share of the irrigation water will now be divided equally with the feudal lord, Mahmoud Bey. Mohamed Effendi (Hamdy Ahmad) is sent to the government with their petition, and Youssef Chahine follows the farmers, among them Abdel Hadi (Ezzat Al Alaily), as they wait for an answer. Then Mahmoud Bey proposes a project that would take part of their land, and the farmers stand to lose the only ground they have.
