The Landlord

“Watch the landlord get his.”

At twenty-nine, Elgar Enders (Beau Bridges) wants out of his wealthy family's house, so he buys a tenement in a Park Slope ghetto in Brooklyn. His plan is to clear out the black tenants and turn the place into a posh flat for himself. Hal Ashby, in his first film as director, sets Elgar in that building beside his mother Joyce (Lee Grant), who still smells of money in every room.
