The Laramie Project

“Everyone carries a piece of the truth.”

Eight members of New York's Tectonic Theatre Project travel to Laramie, Wyoming, wanting to understand how a town lives with the murder of 21-year-old Matthew Shepard. They record hours of interviews over two years, and Moisés Kaufman builds the film from those transcripts, so the words are the townspeople's own. Rulon Stacey (Dylan Baker) and Father Roger Schmit (Tom Bower) are among the voices, each speaking to a stranger holding a recorder.
