The Last Execution

“Based on the true story of the secret death penalty in East Germany”

In East Germany, the scientist Dr. Franz Walter (Lars Eidinger) is promised a professorship, and he takes it, pledging loyalty to the state and agreeing to work for its foreign intelligence service. Franziska Stünkel sends him into West Germany with his colleague Dirk Hartmann (Devid Striesow), where he is told to use blackmail on innocent people. The film is about what a man gives up of himself each time he says yes to the system.
