The Last Five Years

“There are two sides to every love story.”

Cathy Hiatt (Anna Kendrick) is already singing about the end of her marriage when the film begins, and Jamie Wellerstein (Jeremy Jordan) tells the same story starting at the other end. She is a struggling actress and he is a writer whose books are selling, and each of them carries a different version of how it came apart. Richard LaGravenese keeps the two of them singing through New York, mostly apart, with only a few songs sharing a frame.
