Mari Collingwood (Sandra Peabody) is turning seventeen, and all she wants is to hear a rock concert in the city with her friend Phyllis (Lucy Grantham). On the way the two girls go looking for drugs and run into Krug (David Hess), the leader of a small group of crooks. Wes Craven, in his first film as director, shoots it in rough, grainy 16mm, and Mari's birthday plans are the thing that puts her in his path.
