“Charming. Magnetic. Murderous.”

Dr. Nicholas Garrigan (James McAvoy) finishes his medical training in Scotland and wants an adventure, so he goes to Uganda just as President Obote is falling. General Idi Amin (Forest Whitaker) takes power and asks the young doctor to become his personal physician. Kevin Macdonald follows how closeness to a charming, dangerous ruler can feel like safety right up to the moment it stops being a choice.
