King Edward is dead, and the kingdom he left behind is already coming apart, with no clear hand to hold it together. Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon) rides out with Finan (Mark Rowley) and Sihtric (Arnas Fedaravičius), serving the young Aethelstan (Harry Gilby) in the hope of uniting England at last. Edward Bazalgette's film is about whether one land can be made out of many rival kings.
