The Last Supper
A plantation owner in colonial Cuba, the Count (Nelson Villagra), wants to show his faith to the twelve enslaved men who work his land. He seats them at his table on Holy Thursday and casts them as the apostles, with himself as Christ. Tomás Gutiérrez Alea keeps the camera on the table and the faces around it, where the men's silence toward the Count starts to carry more than any sermon.
