The Last Temptation of Christ

Jesus (Willem Dafoe) is a Judean carpenter who wants only to be free of the voice that has started calling him the son of God. Judas (Harvey Keitel) pulls him toward revolt against the Roman occupiers, though Jesus insists love, not violence, is the way. Martin Scorsese, working from Paul Schrader's script and shooting in Morocco, treats faith as a weight a man carries and doubts, day after day.
