The Last Word

“An unexpected friendship that began at the end.”

Harriet Lauler (Shirley MacLaine) is a retired businesswoman who has run everything around her for decades, and she wants the same control over what is said about her after she dies. She hands the job to Anne Sherman (Amanda Seyfried), a young journalist at the local paper, in a film directed by Mark Pellington. Harriet wants her obituary to be good, and the story keeps asking what it takes for a life to be remembered well.
