The Late Bloomer

“Based on the (Mostly) True Story of the 30-Year-old Who Just Hit Puberty.”

Dr. Peter Newmans (Johnny Simmons) counsels couples about sex, and his own body has never changed. Then a surgeon removes a benign tumor pressed against his pituitary gland, and three weeks of puberty arrive all at once. Kevin Pollak, working from Ken Baker's memoir, follows Peter through the voice cracks and the stares at his own reflection, his father James (J.K. Simmons) hovering in the doorway.
