The Laughing Policeman

“This movie is so real it makes every other movie in this town look like a movie.”

In 1970s San Francisco, a gunman opens fire on a crowded city bus and kills Detective Dave Evans along with the man Evans had been following. Sgt. Jake Martin (Walter Matthau), Evans' partner, takes the case personally, and Stuart Rosenberg moves him through the city beside his new partner Leo Larsen (Bruce Dern). Every witness and every lead pulls Martin further from his own life, and the killer is still out there.
