The residents of Royston Vasey are a sorry lot, and the town they live in is coming apart at the edges. Their only hope is to cross into the real world and find the three men who invented them, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith. Steve Bendelack sends them through present-day Soho and a film set of 17th-century Britain, and what holds them together is that none of them can stand to leave the others behind.
