Margaret Walsh (Katharine Ross) is an American interior designer in England with her partner Pete Danner (Sam Elliott) when they are summoned to a mansion in the English countryside. The estate belongs to a dying man who has gathered a mismatched group of guests, among them Clive Jackson (Roger Daltrey). Richard Marquand makes his directing debut here, and Margaret arrives as an outsider who cannot tell why she was invited.
