Lizzie Borden (Elizabeth Montgomery) is a quiet daughter in Fall River, Massachusetts, who stands accused of killing her father and stepmother with an ax in 1892. Paul Wendkos follows the case to the 1893 trial, where the prosecutor Hosea Knowlton (Ed Flanders) tests the household's story. Elizabeth Montgomery sits in the courtroom, upright and still, while the grainy 1970s television picture holds her face.
