“Damon Runyan's zaniest Broadway characters come alive with fun...especially the Lemon Drop Kid (Bob, natch!)”

Sidney Melbourne (Bob Hope), the Lemon Drop Kid, has a debt to the gangster Moose Moran and until Christmas to pay it back. He fakes a charity for "Apple Annie" Nellie Thursday (Jane Darwell) and puts his gang in Santa suits to collect dough for old dolls with nowhere to live. Sidney Lanfield directs, and the Kid keeps working the street corners, with Brainey Baxter (Marilyn Maxwell) watching him do it.
