The Letter

(1940)Directed by William Wyler95 minCrime, Drama
“Fascinating, Tantalizing and DANGEROUS!”

A man is shot dead, and the woman who fired the gun, Leslie Crosbie (Bette Davis), has an explanation ready. Then a letter in her own handwriting turns up, and her husband Robert (Herbert Marshall) and their lawyer Howard Joyce (James Stephenson) are pulled into what it might mean. William Wyler stays on Davis's face while she waits, her hands working the lace in her lap.
