“The deeper you go, the weirder life gets.”

The boat is a retired research vessel, and its famous oceanographer, Steve Zissou (Bill Murray), has sworn revenge on the rare shark that ate one of his crew. Wes Anderson puts aboard Ned (Owen Wilson), who believes Zissou is his father, and Jane (Cate Blanchett), a journalist carrying a married man's child. It is a film about a man who made his name looking at the sea and has to face the people he left on land.
