“Obedientia. Paupertas.”

Garfagnana, Italy, 1347. Masseto (Dave Franco), a handsome servant on the run from his vindictive master, takes shelter in a nunnery under Father Tommasso (John C. Reilly). Three young nuns there, Alessandra (Alison Brie), Ginevra (Kate Micucci) and Fernanda (Aubrey Plaza), are still trying to work out what their lives are for. Jeff Baena loosely adapts Boccaccio's Decameron and lets his cast speak the medieval dialogue in flat, modern American voices.
