Ariel (Jodi Benson), a mermaid princess, spots a human prince drowning and saves him, then becomes obsessed with his world. She strikes a dangerous bargain with the sea witch Ursula (Pat Carroll): three days on land to win Eric's (Christopher Daniel Barnes) love, or forfeit her voice and her life to the witch. Ariel gets her wish but loses everything she was, and the cost of that choice defines who she becomes.
