The Lives of a Bengal Lancer

(1935)Directed by Henry Hathaway109 minAdventure, Drama
“Set in the spectacle of mystic India with its glittering mosques, oirental palaces, weird music, bronzed nautch dancers”

McGregor (Gary Cooper) wants a posting that keeps him moving, and on the Northwest Frontier of India he gets it with the 41st Bengal Lancers, who are struggling against the rebel leader Mohammed Khan. Henry Hathaway sets him and the wry, blue-blooded Forsythe (Franchot Tone) over the colonel's untested son, Lieutenant Stone (Richard Cromwell). The three men bicker and cover for one another, and the bond between them gets tested at the border.
