The Long Walk Home

(1990)Directed by Richard Pearce97 min · PGDrama, History
“A story of an incredible friendship.”

A city bus line has become the thing everyone in Montgomery, Alabama, is watching in 1955, and two women on opposite sides of it have to decide what the boycott will ask of them. Odessa Cotter (Whoopi Goldberg) keeps house for Miriam Thompson (Sissy Spacek), and each morning the walk across town gets longer for one and harder to ignore for the other. Richard Pearce keeps Miriam at the center, a white wife and mother watching her own kitchen change.
