The Lord of the Rings

“Fantasy...beyond your imagination.”

Frodo Baggins (Christopher Guard) is handed the One Ring, forged by the dark lord Sauron, and told to carry it to the fire that can destroy it. He leaves the Shire with a fellowship of nine, among them Gandalf (William Squire), Sam (Michael Scholes) and Aragorn (John Hurt). Ralph Bakshi shot the story first with live actors, then painted over the footage, so the animated figures move with a heavy, uneven, almost dreamlike weight.
