Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) is fourteen when she is murdered by a neighbor and watches her family from a luminous space between worlds. Her father Jack (Mark Wahlberg) becomes consumed by finding her killer, while her mother Abigail (Rachel Weisz) pulls away from the life they shared. Susie lingers at the threshold between the girl she might have been and her family's sorrow, the cornfields of her neighborhood glowing in the half-light.
