The Lovers on the Bridge

“Romance... In a most unlikely place.”

The Pont Neuf is closed for repairs, and two vagrants have made it their home. Alex (Denis Lavant) is a would-be circus performer hooked on alcohol and sedatives, and Michèle (Juliette Binoche) is a painter who has taken to the streets as a disease slowly takes her sight. Leos Carax stages their story across Paris during the Bicentennial celebrations of 1989, the bridge rising over the waterways of the city.
