The Loves of Carmen

In 1820s Spain, the gypsy Carmen (Rita Hayworth) draws every man who sees her, and Don José (Glenn Ford), a dragoon with his orders and his uniform, is the one she picks. Charles Vidor surrounds the pair with smugglers, including Dancaire (Luther Adler), and the lawless world Carmen moves through easily. It is a story about a man who gives up his name and his duty for a woman who will not belong to anyone.
