The Lusty Men

(1952)Directed by Nicholas Ray113 minDrama, Western
“A Fast Buck... A Fast Bronc... A Fast Thrill!”

Jeff McCloud (Robert Mitchum) is a retired rodeo champion who agrees to take a novice rider, Wes Merritt (Arthur Kennedy), under his wing. Wes's wife Louise (Susan Hayward) wants no part of it, afraid of what the arena does to the men who ride in it. Nicholas Ray follows the three of them from one dusty rodeo to the next, and Jeff watches a young man learn the very life that left him with nothing.
