The Machinist

“How do you wake up from a nightmare if you’re not asleep?”

Trevor Reznik (Christian Bale) wants one thing, and it's sleep, which he hasn't had in a year. He runs a lathe by day, and somewhere in the gray hours he starts to see a stranger who follows him and whom nobody else can see. Brad Anderson keeps Trevor's few human ties close, the waitress Stevie (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and the prostitute Marie (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón), people he turns to when he can't be alone.
