“Now that you've seen all the rest... make way for "The Mack"”

Goldie (Max Julien) walks out of prison after five years and comes home to Oakland, where his brother has thrown himself into Black nationalism. Goldie wants a different life, and he sets out to become the biggest pimp in the city, with Slim (Richard Pryor) and Hank (Don Gordon) circling his new life. Michael Campus keeps the story close to the bond between Goldie and his brother, two men who came out of the same neighborhood and chose opposite ways to survive it.
