Dr. Alfred Morris (George Zucco) teaches chemistry at a university where he has become fixated on an ancient Mayan gas said to preserve life. He tests it on his assistant Ted Allison (David Bruce), a medical student who is engaged to the concert singer Isabel Lewis (Evelyn Ankers), the woman Morris wants for himself. James P. Hogan follows Ted as the gas hollows him out, a man who slowly remembers his old life and cannot tell what he has become.
