The Mad Miss Manton

(1938)Directed by Leigh Jason80 minComedy, Crime, Mystery, Romance
“Out of the social register and into the police blotter!”

A body turns up in an empty house, and by the time Melsa Manton (Barbara Stanwyck) gets the police there, it is gone. The papers call her a prankster, and newspaper editor Peter Ames (Henry Fonda) is not sure what to call her. Leigh Jason sends her and her friends after the killer themselves, treating the whole hunt as a joke the grown-ups refuse to take seriously.
