The Magic Flute
“We only see Bergman, we only hear Mozart”
Prince Tamino (Josef Köstlinger) wants to win the kidnapped Princess Pamina (Irma Urrila), and the Queen of the Night sends him after her with a magic flute. The bird hunter Papageno (Håkan Hagegård) goes along, hoping mostly to find a wife of his own. Ingmar Bergman filmed Mozart's opera for Swedish television, and the quest toward Sarastro's temple is also the story of Tamino and Pamina reaching for each other.
