In a bright garden, a shaggy, candy-loving puppy named Dougal (Robbie Williams) lives alongside Florence (Kylie Minogue), Brian (Jim Broadbent) and Zebedee (Ian McKellen). Then ZeeBad, Zebedee's evil twin, plans to turn the world to ice, and the friends set out to find the three diamonds that can stop him. Frank Passingham and Dave Borthwick swap the old stop-motion for computer animation, and Dougal's loyalty to his friends carries him through the trip.
