Sadko
Sadko (Sergey Stolyarov), a singer in old Novgorod, wants to bring the bird of happiness to his city, and he says so to a hall of feasting merchants who laugh at him. Aleksandr Ptushko stages the story as an opera, with Rimsky-Korsakov's music carrying it from the palace to the Ocean King's realm and many lands beyond. Sadko has only his voice and a sea princess who loves it, and the whole journey rests on them.
