The Major and the Minor

(1942)Directed by Billy Wilder100 minComedy, Romance
“Is she a kid - or is she kidding?”

Susan Applegate (Ginger Rogers) is short on money and wants to go home, so she pins her hair up, pulls on a child's act, and buys a train ticket at half fare. Hiding from a conductor, she ducks into the compartment of Major Kirby (Ray Milland), who takes "Sue Sue" for a little girl in need of looking after. This is Billy Wilder's first American film, and it leaves Rogers in a train compartment, her pigtails and her borrowed age hanging between them.
