The Maltese Falcon

Ruth Wonderly (Bebe Daniels) walks into the office of private detective Sam Spade (Ricardo Cortez) with a story that sounds true and isn't. The job she hires him for pulls him toward a small statuette called the Maltese Falcon, and toward Casper Gutman (Dudley Digges), who wants it badly. Roy Del Ruth keeps Spade and Ruth circling each other, each unsure how much of the other's talk to believe.
