The Man Between

“Terror! Vice! Violence! He stopped at nothing!”

Suzanne Mallison (Claire Bloom) steps off the train in post-war Berlin to visit her brother, and soon finds herself pulled into a ring that smuggles secrets across the border into and out of the Eastern Bloc. At its edge moves Ivo Kern (James Mason), a man whose loyalties she cannot read. Carol Reed films the divided city as a place of wet streets and narrow passages, letting the setting carry the tension.
