When his father dies, he has to head down to the lowlands and earn enough money to bring the place back to life. George T. Miller sets him among men like Clancy (Jack Thompson), and on the Harrison property he meets Jessica (Sigrid Thornton), the owner's daughter, who looks at him the way he looks at her.
