The Man I Love

(1946)Directed by Raoul Walsh96 minDrama, Music
“There should be a law against knowing the things I found out about men!”

Petey Brown (Ida Lupino), a tough torch singer, comes home to visit her family and finds the whole household tangled up with Nicky Toresca (Robert Alda), a shady nightclub owner. Raoul Walsh tracks her through the clubs and apartments as she sorts out her sister's trouble, then meets San Thomas (Bruce Bennett), a once-great jazz pianist now on the skids. Petey can handle a man like Nicky, but she has no defense against wanting to save someone.
