The Man Who Could Work Miracles

(1936)Directed by Lothar Mendes82 minComedy, Fantasy
“A Modern Aladdin Who Could make Women Do Things!”

A man is arguing that miracles cannot happen when one happens, and it turns out to be his doing. George McWhirter Fotheringay (Roland Young) is an ordinary Englishman, and his sudden gift draws the attention of Colonel Winstanley (Ralph Richardson) and Major Grigsby (Edward Chapman). Lothar Mendes adapts H. G. Wells's 1898 story, and Wells reworks it to ask what ordinary people do when handed more power than the men who run things.
