The Man Who Never Was
“The most fiendish plot ever conceived! The most amazing "human being" ever created! The most diabolical phantom--”
In 1943, Lt. Cmdr. Ewen Montagu (Clifton Webb) takes a dead man, dresses him as a British officer, and fills his pockets with forged papers pointing to an Allied landing in Greece. Ronald Neame follows the work in small steps: the body, the identity, the sea that has to carry it to the Germans. If the enemy believes the papers, Sicily is left thinly defended, and if they doubt them, the invasion goes in against full strength.
