The Mansion of Madness

In nineteenth-century France, journalist Gaston LeBlanc (Arthur Hansel) travels to a remote asylum to study its famously gentle methods under Dr. Maillard (Claudio Brook). Juan López Moctezuma, in his first feature, built the place with sets and costumes supervised by Leonora Carrington. The inmates have taken over, locked up the doctors, and decided how a madhouse ought to run, and the film leaves that question of who is sane in plain view.
