The Married Couple of the Year Two

Nicolas Philibert (Jean-Paul Belmondo) comes back to France in 1793 after years in America with one aim: a formal divorce from his wife, Charlotte (Marlène Jobert). Jean-Paul Rappeneau drops him into the middle of the Revolution, where other men are already courting her and the paperwork gets harder to finish. Under the chases and the comedy sits a plain question of what two people still owe each other once the marriage has gone wrong.
