The Matchmaker

“A comedy for the incurably unromantic.”

Marcy Tizard (Janeane Garofalo) is sent from Washington to the Irish village of Ballinagra to dig up the family roots of her boss, Senator John McGlory (Jay O. Sanders), so he can win the Irish vote. She lands in the middle of the town's matchmaking festival, where the matchmaker, Dermot O'Brien (Milo O'Shea), starts sorting through the bachelors. Mark Joffe gives us a woman who came for a paper trail and keeps getting handed a drink and a suitor instead.
