In 1972, Arthur Bishop (Charles Bronson) is a veteran hit man whose gift is making a killing look like an accident, and the work has made him rich and left him lonely. He takes on Steve McKenna (Jan-Michael Vincent), the son of one of his own victims, as an apprentice, and trains him hard. Michael Winner shoots it in flat, grainy light and keeps Bronson's face barely moving.
