The Member of the Wedding

“She became a woman in the middle of a kiss!”

Frankie Addams (Julie Harris) is twelve, a tomboy in a small Southern town, and she has decided that her older brother's wedding to Janice (Nancy Gates) is the start of her own life, though nobody has invited her into it. She plans to leave with the couple and never come back. Fred Zinnemann keeps the story in the family kitchen, where Berenice (Ethel Waters) and young John Henry (Brandon De Wilde) wait out the summer with her.
